DMCA & Abuse Reporting
Last updated: 2026-10-13
GayBoard is a passive, user-posted board. We do not pre-screen or continuously monitor content (see Terms §6), but we do operate a notice-and-takedown intake so that rightsholders and affected people can get material removed. Use the routes below; we act on notices that contain the information required by law.
DMCA copyright takedown
If you are a copyright owner (or authorised to act for one) and material on GayBoard infringes your rights, send a written notice to our designated agent. Under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3) the notice must include all of:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
- The exact URL(s) on GayBoard where the infringing material appears.
- Your contact information: name, postal address, telephone, and email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
A notice missing any element above may not be actionable; we will tell you what is missing when we can. On a conforming notice we disable access to or remove the identified material, and we forward the notice details to the user who posted it where we have contact information on file for them.
Designated DMCA agent
Agent: the GayBoard operator (an independent individual running the service)
Intake email: [email protected]
Postal contact: provided on request; identity and hosting details are held privately and disclosed only in response to valid legal process.
Note: to claim full §512 safe-harbour protection against a U.S. claim, a service must also designate its agent in the U.S. Copyright Office's electronic DMCA directory. This page describes the process GayBoard follows; the Copyright Office registration is a separate step that the operator completes when taking the service toward public operation.
Counter-notification
If material you posted was removed on a DMCA notice and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same agent containing your contact details, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a good-faith statement under penalty of perjury that it was misidentified, and your consent to jurisdiction of the applicable federal court. We will restore the material in a reasonable period unless the complainant files an action.
Non-consensual & private imagery (NCII)
Intimate images shared without the subject's consent are prohibited regardless of copyright. The person shown (not necessarily the photographer) may request removal by emailing [email protected] with the URL. These notices are handled separately from copyright and do not require you to be the photographer; we act on a credible claim from the subject and do not demand formal proof of identity beyond what is reasonable to confirm you are the person depicted. Because images on GayBoard are confined to private, self-expiring messages, removal typically means the image is already gone or will expire on its own.
Other abuse
Spam, scams, harassment, or content violating the Terms of Service can be reported to [email protected] with the offending URL and a short description. You can also self-serve in-app: delete your own advertisement (available once your city is at its posting cap), or Settings → Delete all private messages to end a conversation on both sides.
Repeat infringers
In line with §512(i)(1)(A), accounts that receive multiple valid infringement notices have the reported material removed and may be blocked from further posting. Because accounts are anonymous, auto-expire after 90 days of inactivity, and are identified only by the connection data we retain, blocking is applied at the level of the posts and access we actually control — not at the level of a real-world identity we do not hold.
What we do not promise
To be direct, so nothing on this page is later read as a broken promise: GayBoard does not and cannot review every post, verify the age or consent of anyone depicted, or confirm that material is non-infringing before it appears. It maintains only the intake routes above and responds to notices that meet them. Reporting through the correct channel is the reliable way to get material removed.
